In the age of Huxwell, the pursuit of those things that promote and protect the quality of life is an act of sheer defiance. Accordingly, the Quality of Life Resistance Movement presents three discrete yet symbiotic calls to action, each of which is critical to sustaining and improving the quality of life in the confluence of state-sponsored default addiction and the escalating institutional tyrannies of runaway digital scale. They follow…
We must turn away from distraction, and turn our attention instead to those things that promote and protect the quality of life: faith, family, and community.
The ancient Vedic Seers once observed that we become our attention. With that truism in mind, the very first thing we need to do as individuals, families, and communities is turn our focus to those things and resources that promote and protect the quality of life. Precisely what happens each time you turn your attention to the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical building blocks of quality. Precisely what you are doing right now.
The legacy media tsunami of national politics, climate change, gender equity, and systemic racism is an immensely profitable and utterly addictive carnival sideshow designed explicitly to distract our time and attention and money away from those things that actually build and confer quality. As individuals, as families, as communities, and as a nation we need to turn away from distraction and turn our time and attention to the satisfaction of our spiritual, social, emotional, and physical needs.
We need to restore meaningful ritual as the key to individual responsibility and lifestyle moderation: the only statistically viable antidote to state-sponsored default addiction. Many of the meaningful rituals and other lifestyle constraints that once protected the quality of life for us as individuals, families, and communities have been stripped away or eliminated entirely over the past several generations, replaced by a secular consumer culture of excess everything in what I now refer to as the Great Age of Addiction.
Lifestyle moderation via the reintroduction of meaningful ritual is the only statistically viable response to addiction, now institutionalized across American society as a default cradle-to-grave condition. For that reason, everything you’ll find here — including the revolutionary QoL Toolkit — is designed to help you, your family, and your community turn away from excess and embrace moderation instead.
Lifestyle moderation via the introduction and maintenance of meaningful ritual is the surest way for you, your family, and your community to restore and protect the quality of life in 21st-century America.
We must return to local autonomy as the best way for individuals, families, and communities to combat the tyrannies of digital scale and runaway institutional power. Nothing threatens the centralized power and institutionalized tyranny of digital scale like a return to local autonomy. Nothing threatens Huxwellian tyrants on distant thrones more than states that offer school choice, counties that offer cooperative healthcare, regions and towns that provide support for local artists and craftspeople, or local lending institutions. Nothing enrages and challenges the high priests of Huxwell like vibrant communities of faith or — worse yet — parents who claim control of their own children.
Here at the Quality of Life Resistance Movement we’ll explore all of the above and more. In the end, the surest path to the quality of life in the Huxwellian confluence of state-sponsored default addiction and the institutional tyrannies of digital scale is to turn our attention to it, restore meaningful ritual, individual responsibility, and moderation to our lives, reclaim our faith, and re-establish jurisdictional control of our own children, towns, and states.
In short, it’s time to sober up and reject the soul-crushing mantra of institutional digital scale. Time to repudiate the insidious call to Think Global Act Local. Time instead to Think Local Act Local first.
Everything you find here on the Quality of Life Resistance Movement will address one or more of the above three calls to action. Everything.
