Now, as I near my 73rd birthday, I finally have a career ambition: fine art photographer.
Never had a career ambition before. Never even knew I had a career until I was laid off from my last corporate job in 2001, and was forced against my will to compose my first resume at the age of 49 (the precise moment I realized that I’ve had layovers in airports that lasted longer than most of my corporate jobs). With a tip of the hat to the great Ring Lardner, here’s my final career line:
JOBs 16
WON 11
LOST 5
PCT .688
But all of that has changed in the past year or so, and now I need your vote!
Just submitted the three photos above to my first photography competition, a portrait contest curated by the NOMA Gallery in Ocala, FL. First prize is a solo show. Click on any of the above portraits or any of the green buttons below to cast your vote directly via email to the curator. Or visit nomaocala.com, scroll down ‘til you find my work, then click the adjacent VOTE! buttons.
So many thanks for your gracious participation in support of my new career.
Self-portraits always get my vote. Would it were landslide "lopsided" like tinpot dictator tallies only pretend to be.
But ... doesn't look like my vote works here, or at nomaocala, without suspicious interim steps. Got any mail-in ballots?
Voted - thank you!
Wishing you success - as long as you are participating - it's a success!
